Comexposed has done an amazing job of spring boarding the local comic book community into the reach of people interested in comics, and this has fostered into the start of the comic book industry that will continue to grow in the months and years to come.
In 2015 they hosted their Comexposed event that saw digital artists, animators, comic books, cosplay and all the essential elements that keep any geek and nerd convention afloat. This year they decided to help the comic book section one step further by introducing an event called Comic Book Day! At present, it has no ties with the international Free Comic Book Day, but we’ll have to wait for next year to see if that changes.
Comic Book Day was a smashing success for all those involved and especially for the people that came out to see what we had to offer. With both local and international comics on display and for sale, the choices for what to take home were wide and diverse. For myself, it allowed me to debut my first trade paperback comic – a leap from all my digitally published works – the first issue of the Zimbabwean crime fighter Razor-Man!
Issue one, set in Harare, Zimbabwe: establishes the tone for the story and introduced a few of the key characters that will drive the plot as the series progresses. It ties together, science fiction, fantasy, crime, super heroes as well as local and international pop culture references to keep the story relevant.
The story continues in Razor-Man issue two, which will be launched at Comexposed’s Comic Book Day 2 on the 25th of June 2016. For those unable to get to the event. Issue one is currently on sale digitally for $2.00 and comes with some extra content to clue you in about events occurring in the background of the Razor-Man universe.
